Windows users will find running a linux operating system a pleasure.
Its ease of use its super reliability its speed browsing and its lack of a registry and the constant registry problems associated with windows os .Registry problems in windows cause slow downs and errors  problems bogging your computer down .Linux has no such problem it does not tie up your computers resources it is always fast and its its pretty much virus problem free.I have never run any form of anti virus on my computer in 5 yrs no issues never one
ever since I switched from windows to linux . I never had any issues its free also to get and use a linux system if your coming from and had been using windows linux mint or kubuntu ,ubuntu is your version to try its one of the best and its so easy to install for newbees to linux. Just about every version of linux has a software center where you
can get more software for free. There is all kinds of media ,office ,games graphics,programming and science based software.  The office software libra office is the linux stand in for MSFT office just as good too all kinds of media players browsers ect at the software center .And there is two particular programs in the software center worth pointing out.
for the windows gamer there is a program called steam here you can buy download store and run high graphic  games on linux. about one more linux program called wine wine is cool when its installed it lets you run windows software on a linux computer this to can be installed right from the software center on mint or ubuntu and a lot others here is the link to wine   might want to check that out

Hi  and a happy holliday Since linux is open source its free to be developed by anyone. So lets say ubuntu or debian  are two very popular versions of linux  now somebody comes along and wants to develop a new version. He  takes the ubuntu core operating system and adds a different desk top changes design  a different  look for the desktop and names it something else this is how new versions of linux are born .There are many versions that run on top of ubuntu or debian core systems. Matter a fact there is the off spin of ubuntu its the very popular  linux mint it is a version of ubuntu. I  feel mint is the best version of the ubuntu core .There are new releases all the time im going to give you the link to distro watch here you can find all the new releases .Here these two i will mention I tried them pre tested them.Ultimate os is a big full featured desktop pretty nice system. And tails is a debian based system tiny by comparison to most linux systems in size but that  tails os is a pretty cool thing it comes with Tor encrypted browser .You can even access the dark net with it  runs off a usb stick as a live os put the flash usb stick in your computer change settings to first boot off usb before the HD  restart your computer with the flash drive in tails should boot off the usb stick .With tails or any nice thing about linux you can run it just off live linux cd of flash drive hard to try it out before you install it no drive needed matter fact i had a computer the hard drive failed. I threw a linux cd in and surfed the web a week till the new drive came in the mail a week later never missed a beat of course you cant store files or download while running on a cd until you install it on your hard drive. Installation of a linux system you will need a flash usb stick or empty free dvd to burn to  disk to write the ISO files to stick or disk . Down load the operating system here your choice MINT LINUX or UBUNTU down load to computer and  then put files on usb or disk what you will find to start off with both come with powerfull desktops.Mint is the better of the two both distros have great office suits  libra office witch is as good as MSFT office also theres a large software center and all software is free on linux tons of science based games utility and just about everything you could think of .
 If your installing on a windows computer go to bios settings change first boot to to what ever your using to boot cd drive or usb stick put either in the computer and restart your computer .It should boot right to linux when it starts and the installer follow the on screen directions for an easy install. Your computer will be much faster and use far less resources running linux you be amazed at the performance of even old tired out dated machines on linux lubuntu is a nice light version thats good for older machines enjoy !
